In my younger days I used to color my hair for fun, experimenting with different colors like wild, blonde streaks and red highlights. At some point in my twenties, gray started growing in and I went from coloring my hair for fun, to being concerned with covering up the gray.
Initially, just a few gray hairs grew in, but as I’ve gotten older the gray hair grows in thicker and quicker and I need to color my hair way more frequently than I used to. My gray hair grows in pretty thick by my temples, so much so that that my hubby jokingly calls me Pauly Walnuts from the Sopranos! If you don’t know who Pauly Walnuts is, Google it, you’ll see what I mean! Lol!
I color my own hair at home, but it isn’t always feasible for me to color my hair as soon as I notice the grays growing back in. Lucky for me, last summer I found a product that’s been a total life saver. Madison Reed Root Touch Up is a brush-on hair color powder that has been super effective in temporarily covering those grays when they come in faster than I can keep up with coloring my hair. I’m able to use my Root Touch Up powder for several weeks before the gray hair grows in too thick and needs actual hair dye. I love that using it allows me to extend the time between needing to dye my hair.
Root Touch Up powder runs $30 and is packaged just like a little blush compact making it super convenient and easy to use. Just load the brush up with hair color powder and apply to desired areas. It’s literally that easy and you don’t need much for each application. I love that it provides instant coverage, blends in with and matches my own hair color almost perfectly and is long lasting. It doesn’t rub off on my clothes or skin once applied, but still rinses out easily when I wash my hair.
Whether you color your hair at home like me, or get your hair colored at a salon, Madison Reed Hair Root Touch Up powder can be a total life saver when you need a little extra coverage in between hair coloring. I’m so glad I found it, I only wish I had discovered it years ago.
This is not a sponsored post. I have been using Madison Reed Root Touch UP hair powder for a little over a year now and just wanted to share my own tip to combat covering those pesky gray hairs, especially for those at home during quarantine and unable to get to a salon. FYI, I haven’t tried Madison Reed at home hair colors kits and have only been using their root touch up powder.
