I was recently invited by Harmony Eco Spa to visit the spa and see what they’re all about. Hello Spa Day! Harmony Eco Spa is an Organic Hair Salon & Holistic Wellness Spa located in St. Petersburg, FL at The Hollander Hotel.
Over the past few years, I’ve switched up my personal care routine to include more natural products with less harmful ingredients, so I was super excited when Harmony Eco Spa invited me to review the spa. I moved to the area a few months ago and have been looking for a salon that featured products I would feel good about using, without harmful chemicals and toxins. I think one of the most stressful parts of moving is finding new stylists, am I right? Lol!
Anyways, back to the spa. The beauty industry as a whole is not well regulated and so many of our personal care products have all kinds of harmful ingredients in them. While the demand for better for you consumer products has been growing, I’m always surprised that more salons aren’t providing better products for their customers.
Cue Harmony Eco Spa. They not only provide a non-toxic salon experience with products free from harmful ingredients, but also employ stylists, therpists, and estheticians that genuinely care for the environment, the earth, and health of all living beings.
Casey, my esthetician and nail tech, was a perfect example of this. She lives her life holistically in all ways and only uses completely organic, highly effective products on herself and her clients. She’s extremely knowledgeable about skin care and the benefits of using organic products like the line she’s uses, Eminence.
Not only does Casey keep busy with appointments at the spa, but she also travels to trade shows to teach classes and educate other estheticians about the benefits of using Eminence.
During my treatment I learned that Eminence was founded in 1958 in Hungry and was one of the very first organic product lines in the market. Their natural skin care line is made from 100% organically grown, hand-picked fresh herbs, fruits, vegetables and pure spring water. They have also been using sustainable farming/green practices (like using wind and solar energy) to create natural & organic products since their inception. How amazing is that?!?!
My facial with Casey was one of the best facials I have had in along time. She took the time to ask me lots of questions about my skin care routine, my skin type and any concerns or goals I had for my skin. She then tailored my facial to address my specific needs. I also loved learning about Eminence and the products she was using on me.
All the products she used smelled amazing, especially the chocolate raspberry masque. I was thrilled at the results of my facial! My skin looked and felt ahhh-mazing afterwards. Casey was also full of tips and tricks to keep my skin looking it’s best at home in between treatments. She said the number one thing anyone should do at home is to exfoliate a couple times a week, but be sure to use a gentle product as to not strip your face too much. Casey really knows her stuff!
Next up was a mani/pedi. Casey was my girl for this too! Did I mention she is multi-talented? Anyways, more amazing products for my mani/pedi. Along with using Eminence lotions, Casey uses SpaRitual nail colors.
SpaRitual nail products are made with vegan ingredients, including many specially sourced plant essences that are Certified Organic, Fair Trade and are formulated without formaldehyde and formaldeh resin.
Pedicures are the one spa treatment I love most and indulge in most often. Casey’s was awesome. Some nail techs can be tough on your feet, but Casey was very gentle yet still very thorough. My toes looked great and even kept for weeks after! My nails came out petty too. I enjoyed getting to know Casey and can’t wait to go back.
My last treatment was a massage with Arnold. I typically prefer a female masseuse, but I decided to give Arnold a chance and he didn’t disappoint.
Since this was my first visit, Arnold took time to get to know me and asked me questions about my health to get a better understanding of any issues I was having. He studied my posture by having me stand up and take several deep breaths. This helped him identity some of my problem areas.
After my short evaluation, he was ready to begin. Arnold uses a combination of traditional, energetic and intuitive massage. He also combines deep tissue massage with sound therapy for a truly unique experience. If you are willing to trust Arnold and are open to having a slightly different massage experience, you won’t be disappointed.
I learned that sound therapy dates back thousands of years. Some therapists will use recorded music, gongs, tuning forks or Tibetan Singing Bowls (also called Himalayan Singing Bowls). These singing bowls have become some of the most popular spa choices and happen to be what Arnold used on me.
Studies claim that sound waves have been shown to alter brainwaves and lead to deep mental and physical relaxation. Sound therapy is also said to help improve circulation and blood flow to muscles, tendons, and ligaments, and decrease stress while increasing relaxation by emitting sound into the body’s meridian points and energy centers.
I’ve never had sound therapy before, but I have to say I felt amazing after my message, both physically and mentally with effects that lasted weeks after my massage. It was such a unique experience and I really enjoyed it. I’ll be back to see Arnold for sure.
