Disclosure: I was gifted two pairs of shoes for the purpose of writing this review, however all opinions & views are my own.
Lissom Flytes are back!!! I fell in love with these hybrid ballet flat/sneaker style shoes a couple years ago, but then they briefly closed down production. After some setbacks and a short hiatus, they have recently relaunched and even have a new USA based warehouse for quicker shipping. I’m hopeful for the future of the brand, as it truly is such an amazingly, comfy shoe!
Lissom Flytes are the perfect marriage between a ballet flat and a sneaker. They are unlike anything I’ve ever put on my feet before. They are super light, extremely flexible and incredibly comfortable!! You can read my original full review here.
I’ve been wearing Lissom Flytes for almost 2 years now and I can honestly say that I love them just as much today, as I did when I first tried them on. Lissom was generous enough to send me a couple new pairs to test out ahead of the relaunch and I’m happy to report they are still the same amazingly comfy, stylish shoes that I fell in love with.
What’s so special about these shoes? According to Lissom, most sneakers over-support the foot, which is counter-productive. Lissom Flytes have the perfect amount of support and cushion, allowing your foot to function in a natural way. The unstructured design enables you to move more freely and wholly in line with the natural movement of your feet. Check out their FAQs page where they answer all kinds of foot related questions.
Lissom Flytes mold to your feet and require very little breaking in time, if any at all. They are super comfy out of the box, but really become like a second skin the more you wear them. They are machine washable and easy to care for. The lighter colors do require some spot cleaning a little more often to keep them looking bright and new, but I’ve been told Lissom is testing out and releasing soon a new protectant spray to help keep your Flytes spot free longer! Once I’ve had a chance to try it out, I will report back how well it works.
I find Lissom Flytes run true to size. I have a wide, flat foot and typically wear an 8.5, or sometimes a 9 depending on the shoe. I’ve tried both the 8.5 and 9 in Flytes. While they both fit great and I really could wear either size, if I had to choose one size, I do slightly prefer the 8.5 a bit more over the 9. The 9 is a bit more roomy for my wide foot, but the 8.5 more closely fits the length of my toe box and gives me a little more snug of a fit than the 9s.
Depending on how wide your foot is, you may prefer to size up. My mom also has a pair of Flytes and she wears her true shoe size in Flytes. She has a narrow foot and typically wears a size 8 in most shoes. The size 8 Flytes worked perfectly for her, even with a narrow foot. Like I said, Flytes really do just mold to your foot for the perfect fit.
Lissom Flytes are stylish and a very versatile shoe that can be dressed up or down! They obviously go perfect with yoga or athletic wear, but also look great with a cute top and jeans or shorts. The main thing is, they’re so comfy, you’ll feel like you’re wearing slippers!
If you’ve followed me for very long, you’ll know that I’m very particular about my shoes, am extremely loyal to my favorite brand of ballet flats, Tieks and rarely wear any other shoes aside from Tieks. As I said in my original Flytes review, I’m not trying to replace my Tieks, but Lissom Flytes have a different feel and purpose that can happily sit alongside my beloved Tieks. I am ecstatic to have found another shoe that is just as comfy as my Tieks and I think you’ll love Lissom Flytes too.
